Choklate is an international singer/songwriter based in Seattle, WA.
She's shared the stage with and/or collaborated with the likes of Erykah Badu, Anthony Hamilton, Musiq Soulchild, Drake, Dwele, Raheem DeVaughn, Eric Roberson, De La Soul, BoysIIMen, Bilal, Anthony David, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, Nikka Costa, Baaba Maal, Res, Roy Ayers, Blacksheep and many more.
Her self-titled release in 2006 and its subsequent re-release in 2008, created a tremendous global buzz for Choklate’s music and live performances. With the release of 2009’s “To Whom It May Concern” Choklate once again teamed up with hip- hop/soul producer Vitamin D and the duo delivered a critically acclaimed CD. She's toured Sweden, France, Italy, Japan and the UK and performed at the Blue Note (NYC), Jazz Alley (Seattle), countless other historical music venues around the world and headlined her own U.S. tour.
In 2012, Choklate released, "FLY" which features collaborations w/ Musiq Soulchild, Phonte of Little Brother and Foreign Exchange and includes production from Musiq Soulchild, Vitamin D, Kuddie Fresh and Marcus D.
The Seattle Weekly writes “When the album's listened to in one sitting, it's clear Choklate has matured and found a sound that can revive contemporary soul, just when others were questioning if it was dead.”
Her first single for London Tone Music is called Whales and it’s a collaboration between Charles “Rawfingers” Hopper and Geoff Ott of London Bridge Studio. It’s a mix of soul and electronica, with layered vocals, flowing rhythms and a really cool vibe.
Choklate continues to learn and grow artistically as well as work tirelessly to provide a quality presentation of honest music that she hopes continues to touch those who are exposed to it as she continues to stretch the boundaries of Soul/R&B music.
Choklate has also begun to actively bridge the gap between her consistent work within different philanthropic endeavors and the music that she is most known for and looks forward to continuing to utilize her platform to have a positive impact on the world.
